Q & A with Adam Kukoff
What inspired you to start NUTSÓLA?
Initially, NUTSÓLA was just a way for my family to eat clean without added sugars. In no way did I ever think it would become a business. But with our passion for this lifestyle and entrepreneurial mindset, we saw an opportunity to make a positive difference in the food space and offer a clean, transparent product—free from added sugars.
Can you share the story behind the creation of NUTSÓLA's first product?
My dad created our Superfood Mix in 2012, using just nuts, dates, seeds, and spices. It was a delicious snack that I pretty much ate all day long! He made bars from it, brought them to work, and would eat about 10 a day. Once we realized we had something unique, we launched on Kickstarter. It’s wild to look back at how we started!
What sets NUTSÓLA apart from other healthy snack brands? Weirdly enough, not having any experience in the food industry has been an advantage. We’ve always focused on transparency and going against the grain, never adding sugars, chemicals, preservatives, or sugar alcohols to our products.
How do you ensure the quality and health benefits of NUTSÓLA products?
We maintain the highest level quality ingredients and manufacturing practices.
What are some challenges you faced when launching the brand and how did you overcome them?
Our biggest challenge is creating something unique while manufacturing it efficiently. It’s all about trial and error and finding the right manufacturing partner with the right equipment to scale.
How do you stay true to your mission of providing clean, nutrient-dense snacks?
It's what we're all about and will never change that.
How do you incorporate NUTSÓLA products into your own daily routine?
I eat Superfood Mixes for breakfast in cereal or oatmeal, bites for snacks, and I eat chocolate pretty much all day!
What upcoming products or flavors can customers look forward to?
I can’t really give it away, but we are currently working on a ton of new products! We have breakfast products including breakfast items and even some supplements, so stay tuned!
How do you see the future of healthy snacking and NUTSÓLA's role in it?
We want to be a major influence in the food space and a transparent brand consumers can trust. We never cut corners and always create products that prioritize health.
What customer feedback has impacted you the most?
Customer feedback has been incredible from day one, whether at farmers markets or in reviews. Every piece of feedback is important to us.
How does NUTSÓLA contribute to sustainability and ethical sourcing?
We always ensure that we're purchasing fair trade ingredients because it's important to us. Our food partners are a representation of us and where we stand.
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs in the health food industry?
I always recommend starting with a grassroots approach—selling at farmers markets to get real customer feedback.
What has been the most rewarding part of your journey with NUTSÓLA?
Seeing the positive impact we can make in people’s lives by creating food products they love and that support their healthy lifestyle is incredibly rewarding.
How involved are you with communicating with customers?
I’m always the one communicating, whether it's via email, text, or social media.
